Godrevy Lighthouse

The Lighthouse at Godrevy is situated just off the headland on an island. It's an inspiring sight and one that i'll post a few pictures of i'm sure.

  1. I came from Rose's blog.. of course anything from Cornwall will start me running... can I say I am a Cornish woman if I have the genes running through my veins? Genes from as far back as 14th century so far?? .. anyhow, I digress... thanks tons for sharing photos of a place that I hope oneday to walk and trace the footsteps of my ancestors.

  2. Hehe....well i'd say you probably qualify as a Cornish woman given your heritage. Do you know what part of Cornwall your family came from, maybe i can get you some photo's of the area. Thank you for your kind words as well.....i hope you enjoy them and maybe they inspire you more to one day to come and see them with your own eyes.

  3. here is a little information from my family tree:
the Tregilgas part of my family has been traced to around 1475. In 1524 or thereabouts there was a subsidy and muster roll all over the country. In the stannary of Blackmoor in the parish of St. Ewe, John Tregilgas was listed as was his son another John Tregilgas. You had to be 21 to be on the list so, presuming young John was 21 at least, he would have been born around the early 1500s. His father would have been around 25 when John was born (he could have had other children older than son John) so the first John would have been born around 1475.
I also have the Curnow family in my tree.

Not sure if Rose has told you but i live in Australia.. so a long way. And yes, the plan is to come over next year - fingers crossed- (sorry for hijacking the comments)

  5. Thank you so much for sharing your photos of Cornwall. I lived in England for 14 yers and have often regretted returning to Canada. I miss the countryside and way of life over there. All the reading I do is British novels, so I really appreciate seeing the countryside from the Isle. Look forward to the next lot.

  6. My pleasure Leone, i'm glad that the pictures bring back happy memories. Strangely enough, i've always wanted to come and see what Cananda was like.
